This week, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published a refresh of its Open Payments dataset, which includes new data to account for the result of disputes and other data corrections since the last refresh in June 2016. Note that this release does not yet include 2016 data, which should be published in June 2017.

According to CMS, the new dataset reflects:

  • Changes made to records
  • Changes to delays in publication flags
  • Changes to disputed records
  • Records that were deleted

You can access the new data (and previously-released data) at the CMS Open Payments website. As a snapshot of these data changes, we have prepared the graphic below, which summarizes the nearly 3,000 records that were changed from the original 2015 Open Payments data.
